Steve and his intrepid band of lumberjacks get ready for the main assault on the South West face. It wasn't long before the sky broke through once more across the top of the mountain.

Old Man Emu finishing off the stumps. Permission was provided by National Parks to undertake the erradication of the Olive Trees and they had provided basic training and an OHS overview before work commenced.

6 July
Work commenced again on the South face with Steve W, Mark, Steve, Greg, Glenn, Richard and Glyn hitting the slope and making a real dent in the thick wall of Olive Trees on that face. As you will see from the pictures, more sky and less wood was the aim and we made great in roads. Steve had a long day, starting at 8am and pulling up stumps :) at around 3pm. I think all deserve that beer nightcap tonight.
Left: Steve and Mark cut a swathe through the scrub whilst Greg does it tough with a pair of hand shears.
One of the huge stumps thats left after the clearing treatment.
After all the effort, it was worthwhile. The South face is now open and should provide some smoother air when the southerlies roll in.
Steve takes a seat on the Throne of Narcas.
Due to New regulations imposed by the NSWPWS the eradication program has halted January 2010
